ExperienceOne Homes is committed to constructing high-quality homes that use less energy, use less water, and meet higher standards for indoor air quality and comfort. We accomplish this through an independent certification program called ecoSelect.

The ecoSelect program combines performance testing and targeted features in a comprehensive package that addresses energy efficiency, water efficiency and indoor air quality within your home. Each of the ecoSelect specifications and requirements is verified by a certified independent energy rater who is responsible for ensuring that your new home has met all of the prescriptive requirements and features of the program.

The end result is a healthy, comfortable and efficient home that requires less money spent on monthly utility bills.

Features of an ecoSelect-certified home

High Performance Building Envelope

Every ecoSelect home includes low-E high performance windows as a standard feature. In addition, insulation is required to be installed void of any gaps or compressions. A high performance building envelope helps reduce utility bills, improves comfort, and reduces the fading of walls, floors and furniture.

Programmable Thermostats

Programmable thermostats reduce energy bills by tailoring the heating and cooling of a home to the homeowner’s work and sleep schedule.

High Efficiency HVAC

Energy-efficient HVAC systems begin with increased equipment efficiencies, quality installation and tightly sealed ducts. All ecoSelect-certified homes include HVAC system leakage testing as a quality control measure to help ensure that each system installed in your home is delivering the highest level of performance possible.

Energy Efficient Lighting

All ecoSelect-certified homes substitute inefficient incandescent bulbs that produce more heat than light with efficient CFLs or LED lights. Lighting can account for as much as 15% of the home’s total energy bill, making light fixtures among the most important and easily improved energy-efficiency features in a home.

Reduced Water Usage

All ecoSelect homes are built with WaterSense-certified water fixtures that are at least 20% more efficient without sacrificing performance. In addition to WaterSense fixtures, landscape irrigation systems have rain sensors as a standard feature, which dramatically reduces a homeowner’s water bills. These combined efforts alone can save an average household more than 500 gallons of water each year.

Advanced Air Sealing

Special attention and care is placed on the air sealing aspects of each home with an emphasis on separating conditioned spaces from the outdoor elements. A blower door test conducted at the final inspection is used to verify the effectiveness of the air sealing and to ensure that the home doesn’t leak.

Quality Assured

Each home is inspected and tested twice during construction by an independent third-party home energy rater. This inspection and testing process is a rigorous one that includes HVAC and duct system leakage testing, whole-house infiltration testing, and framing and insulation inspections. As a homeowner you’ll also receive a copy of the certificate in your closing packet with the details of the rating.

ecoSelect Performance Label

After completing the certification process, your home receives an ecoSelect Performance Label and rating report, with information on energy costs, efficiency features and the HERS rating.

  1. Home address
  2. Date of the final inspection and assessment
  3. The conditioned square footage of the home
  4. Highlighted energy performance features of the home
  5. The home’s unique ecoSelect Rating ID number
  6. Average estimated monthly energy cost
  7. HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Index
  8. The home’s calculated HERS Index Score
